Soulphonics & Ruby Velle
Biography
Soulphonics & Ruby Velle are a modern R&B group based out of Atlanta, GA, and have been a slick addition to the local Atlanta scene since early 2008 (although formed in 2006). Lead female vocalist Ruby Velle, is backed by a solid lineup, including a three piece horn section (trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax) and rhythm section (B3 organ/keys, electric guitar, bass and drums). Since emerging on the scene, the band has performed at some of the areas best known venues and events for live music including; The Earl, Smith's Olde Bar, Highland Ballroom, and The Woodruff Art Center, Center Stage, and many more... In 2010 the band released 2 singles, "Feet On The Ground" and "Heartlite," with Element Records on vinyl, digital and also compilation CD from Element called "Groove & Soul." The vinyl records have been distributed and sold world-wide through various outlets, and the songs themselves have been further licensed for use on other compilations including the appearance of "Heartlite" on a June 2010 compilation release from UK label Acid Jazz as well as placement in a scene from a 2012 feature length movie release called "Tony Tango." Other recent accolades include an interview with Ruby Velle and MTVdesi from Thursday, May 26, 2011, and the b-side from the "Heartlite" single called "The Man Says" was featured on the popular 'Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show' on Feb 5th, 2011 on BBC6 Radio! Nearing the end of 2011 will be some surprise releases and the group is putting the final touches on a full length debut album to be released in early 2012 on Element Records.
